Collaborations

AGEMI collaborates with international networks and projects that operate to foster gender equality through innovative and forward looking educational practices. The resources created by AGEMI are widely recognised and have been included in teaching/learning materials in a number of universities, civil society organisations and media unions.

AGEMI has developed a close collaboration with the UNESCO UniTWIN Network for Gender, Media and ICT in the elaboration of a booklet titled Gender, Media and ICTs: new approaches for research, education and training, published in the UNESCO series on Journalism Education (UNESCO 2019). Supported by the International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC), the publication introduces a conceptual framework for teaching media, ICT and gender equality, including suggested pedagogical approaches, themes to be explored, scenarios of use and bibliographical references. AGEMI components feature amongst the core resources highlighted in the syllabus.

AGEMI has also collaborated with the Erasmus Virtual Exchange project (EVE), a ground-breaking EU-funded project developed by Sharing Perspectives, which enables young people in Europe and the Southern Mediterranean to engage in meaningful intercultural experiences online, as part of their formal or non-formal education. Using the learning resources created by AGEMI, EVE has delivered three  interactive open online courses titled Gender in/equality in Media and Journalism  in each of 2018 (pilot), 2019 and 2020 which have seen nearly 700 young people registered across the three programmes.
